Brand Week reports that Jay-Z, his RocaWear Brand and the Coca Cola Corporation are coming together to relaunch the Cherry Coke Brand.
This effort comes complete with commercials, a "Cityscape" restyling of the can, and a NY Fashion Week Launchdate.
This announcement follows closely on the news that Hov will promote General Motors' Yukon Denali. Jay's also recently done ads for Hewlett Packard Laptops and endorsed Budweiser Select while serving as Co-Brand Director for Anheuser-Busch. Watch for his new Budweiser Select Commercial to debut during the Super Bowl next week.
"Jay-Z brings a sense of genuine hip-hop authenticity to the brands," Lucian James, CEO at marketing consultancy Agenda, told Brandweek.
"His role is helping brands not get it wrong the way McDonald's did
with African Americans rapping about French fries. There's a
reassurance that they won't appear like an out-of-touch uncle trying to
act cool.
Like the man said, "If you ballin' ...what I'm doin' can't be defined."
