The tide's may be turning.

An established artist on the Grammy committee has submitted NYOil's name for nomination in two different categories:

• Category 3, Song of the Year
• Category 31, Rap Solo Performance

 There have even been rumors of a contingent of Grammy members coming together to form a coup to force the NYOil nomination.

Of course NYOil came on the scene late last year with the much-needed track, "Y'all Should All Get Lynched" produced by DJ Slice of the Cratekickers. The track called-out all these fake gangsta, wanna-be thug rappers on mainstream radio and television. The controversial video for the song was quickly banned by YouTube and other video sites, but has now received nearly 1,000,000 views after being spread by fans across the internet.

NYOil and DJ/Producer, DJ Slice could make history as the first independent Hip-Hop Artists to receive such an honor.

NYOil speaks on the honor of being submitted for Grammy nomination:

"I am moved to my core. We have been doing well so far all things considered. But there are places and points that we seem to be getting a great deal of resistance. We are beginning to detect and identify actual resistance from labels and others that don't want my message nor an artist like me to succeed. It has been difficult. People have gone out there way to keep us from touring or doing paid show dates. Have paid DJ's NOT to play our records. This has been hard on us because we can't compete with that sort of money. But our hard work, determination, and talent has moved even the heaviest of mountains. Our belief that God is in control of our ship has made the impossible possible is what keeps us driven. You see the night before this we were up for an award at the Underground Hip Hop awards. We were up for song of the year against some unknown artist. We thought sure we would win. We did not. The winner had his friends and family push the envelope and keep voting and they won. I was a little hurt because I felt the fans let me down.. but I knew that the truth of the matter was that I didn't work hard enough to make them aware. I was down in the dumps for a moment. Next thing you know I get a call from one of my people and they are like YO' NYOIL = Grammys!!! I'm like WOW. It was like God closed a door that really didn't matter.. to open up one that DOES matter. And he seemed like he was teaching me a lesson about taking this for granted. So we won't this time. This time we are going to reach out to everyone we know and make this thing possible. We are going to be able to look at one another in the eye and say.. "We did everything we could to make this happen" the journey continues!"
