Hiphoppas are currently observing the Tenth Annual Hiphop Appreciation Week. In past years the focus has been on themes such as; Peace (2001), Freedom (2005) and Action (2006). This year's focus is on Communication. YZ, Sha-Rock, Akil, AG, DMC, Ilyas, J-Live, Prince Whipper-Whip, MC Serch, Ernie Paniccioli, and Lin-Que Speak to the theme of Communication and it's role and importance in Hiphop and in Life. us to get anywhere it's important to communicate, hip-hop is a form of
communication, that I'm proud to have been one of the pioneers of, and
every chance I get, I let whatever it is I'm working on , working with,
wanting to work for, be known because if I didn't I woulden't be
known....."

 "Hip hop for me as always been a great way to be introduced to people
through their language and rhymes. I was introduced to Run DMC through
"Sucka MC's." The way I was introduced to Slick Rick was when I heard him do
"La Di D Di". Their words allowed me to share their thoughts with others
like me who lived for these rhymes and bars. This led to conversations
about culture and sports and sex and politics. Hip Hop has taught many
different cultures how to find a common ground through the struggle and
desperation and bragging of its MC's. I have been blessed to be allowed
a voice in this culture. I was able to share my thoughts with many
others and then have them return the volley with how the music and
rhymes made them feel.
We need to let the communication of the culture continue to bridge gaps in our cultural divides and begin with an understanding that we all can be similar in the woven words of the MC. We can learn to make contact not with our fist but with our lips." -MC Serch, 3rd Bass

that together and alone form a vital part of global communication.
Thses two things are The Internet and Hip Hop. Think about it. The question is how are we using them and what are we using them to say? Are we teaching about Civilization VS Technology like KRS1 or are we using them for non-sense? Are we using them to build or to get rich and destroy? Are we using them to grow and advance the theory and science of peace or adding to the math of global madness? Never has the choice been more clear!"

"If I truly believe in "GODspeed" then I know that all has happened for a Positive Reason. If I were to look at the situation coming from that point of view, I would say that HIP HOP has taken this ten year detour toward commercialism for one apparent reason... and that is to pick up all the listeners that it has accumulated thus far so that IT could NOW BE WHAT IT WAS INTENDED TO BE... MUSIC THAT TRANSFORMS THE SOUL. This "Copy Cat Era" has enjoyed it's time in the Sun, but seems to be on it's way out... so that TRUE HIP HOP, having gained all the ears from all these years , can take It's Rightful Place in Transforming The World and it's World view. We have the Listeners NOW, We have the Resources NOW, We have the Avenues NOW... to get OUR MUSIC were it suppose to be. .. Here, enters the REBIRTH of HIP HOP. Hold on to your seats... and I'm talking about your asses. Wagon jumpers can't jump this high... so it's TIME. The Long Awaited Re-Emergence of HIP HOP... is finally HERE!"
